I work in an office near here, so my co-workers and I hit it pretty regularly. They are always doing a TON of takeout/delivery business whenever I'm in there, so it's obvious that people working in downtown Ann Arbor love it. Big positive: the service is usually friendly and quick. I find the food and the prices to be fair-to-middlin', though. I've had the tuna pita wrap here, which was OK, but nothing special. The fries are good, but you do pay for them- quite a bit more than fast food fries will cost you. I've also had the egg and bagel breakfast sandwich, and you could tell they fry the egg as you order, unlike fast-food places which have scrambled egg patties that they freeze and then nuke before serving.

I'm actually writing this for the Ahmo's Express out by Maple & Dexter road... Although the parking is a bit tough, this is a great carry-out place. Fatoosh (sp?) is always pretty good, and having worked in Dearborn for awhile I'm pretty picky. Chicken is of the quality you're used to from a good Middle Eastern place, gyros are always good as well. Overall, tasty food, pretty reasonably priced, prepped quickly. This is a win-win when compared with any other quick food -- any day.

The food isn't exactly anything to write home about, but it's consistent & never disappoints. However, they definitely make the best basic gyro & I haven't found a philly cheesesteak as good as theirs in this city yet. Their fries are stellar, too & the orders always come out fast. I order through CampusFood.com occasionally & that's been a positive experience as well. They have a drink cooler the size of most gas stations so I've been known to pop in just to pick up a 20oz of something now & then. The guys who run this place are always polite & jovial. I'm pretty sure it' a family business which doesn't help or hurt anything but I feel good supporting them. The dining room is pretty lacking on atmosphere but for a meal under $10 I don't expect much atmosphere anyway. My ONLY complaint is that their take out boxes & fountain drink cups are all styrofoam but that's still so common you can hardly fault them for it.

total baby poop. I once got a Gyro with rock salt in it, like the shit you throw on the sidewalk, no shit. They mixed up their buckets of salt or something that day. Retards.

I would like to review of a wide swath of menu here to give a full sense of its highs and lows. But all I can say is...the salads are fantastic. I keep meaning to try other things, especially the hummus, but I keep getting drawn back to that fatoush salad. It's not a "real" fatoush in that it's primarily a lettuce salad, but who cares! The lettuce and veggies are crisp, the dressing tangy and not too oily, and the meat (gyro or chicken shawarma), if you add it, savory and tender. The gyro actually may be the best I've tasted. Ahmo's salads to go have become almost a default option for the nights we don't want to either cook or go out. Someday, I will venture further afield with their menu, but every time I walk through their doors, that gyro and salad dressing irresistibly beckon...

As far as delivery options go, this has to be one of my favorites. They have REALLY good hummus, lentil soup, sandwiches, fries, and mozzarella sticks. It's a combination of fresh, healthy Greek/Middle Eastern food with some classic American-style options thrown in for good measure. There is something particularly awesome about getting a greek pita and hummus, but also being able to order some jalepeno poppers. Delivery downtown is generally pretty fast, but it's easier to go pick up.

I was told Ahmo's was the place to go in Ann Arbor. Maybe with being a Chicagoan, I have a different palate, but Ahmo's is definitely overrated. I got the chicken gyros since it's on all of their signs, and I was left incredibly underwhelmed. The meat was bland, the topics weren't fresh, the sauce was an unidentifiable runny substance (that didn't taste anything like the tzatziki or white sauce I've had with gyros in the past) and my food took a while to come out. The *only* great thing about my experience was the fact that when I asked the cashier what was Zabihah on the menu, instead of just shrugging or trying to convince me the food was without knowing what Zabihah even is, he actually said that he wasn't sure and called up the owner to ask. As someone who has seen many businesses/servers/cashiers try to dupe their customers who observe religious dietary restrictions, I IMMENSELY appreciated that about the customer service I received.

Who knew this place would actually be pretty fresh and good? Not me. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice service, the great portion size and the quality of the food. -Salad (topped with chicken schwarma): Basically you can get some greens and put whatever you want on it. I ordered some hummus (it has more of a liquid consistency) which has a nice flavor, cabbage, tomatoes and a few sauces. The chicken is nice and tender and well spiced. It makes for a great filling meal. FINAL VERDICT: I'd be happy to try their other dishes and platters now that I know the freshness of the ingredients.

I love Greek food and I love pizza so the combination of these two at this restaurant sounded like a great concept. Sadly, some of the staff only know how to make one half of the menu and informed us they couldn't make a pizza when we came by on a Sunday afternoon. Bummer! We had just moved in down the street and a pizza and salad is just what we were craving since all the kitchen utensils were still in boxes. We've been back to Ahmo's a couple times for a gyro and will probably be back again but we still have yet to try the pizza. They are quite generous with the amount of meat on the pitas but I'm not a fan of the pita bread itself - it tastes kind of bland. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean but it's never that busy inside the restaurant.

Everytime we order from Ahmos - and I mean EVERYTIME - they forget something in our delivery. At least one thing, sometimes multiple things. Today, after I called AGAIN about the missing grinder from our order, the man on the other end of the line told me I was RUDE after putting me on hold three times! We will not be ordering from Ahmos again, and I suggest if you choose delivery that you make sure your entire order is there immediately, cause calling them to complain will get you some light verbal abuse. I don't care how good the food is... if you can't even get it, it doesn't matter.

Really disappointed with the quality of the food I received from ahmos this morning, it took a while for the food to get here and when it finally did all the food was cold and my salad was warm, I ordered cheese sticks, a falafel and a small Greek salad, the cheese sticks came cold with congealed cheese, the falafel with cold and soggy and the salad was warm and had a good amount of wilted close to rotten lettuce, not to mention the tomatoes were completely soft and seemed to be rotten as well, all in all I feel very ripped off

I so wanted to be impressed, but I'm afraid I was not. We ordered a pizza (pesto chicken) and a salad (Greek). The pizza was okay. The pesto pizza, oddly enough, came with mushrooms, and the pesto didn't come through all that much. Bummer! The salad was most definitely not Greek. When I think of a Greek salad I think of feta cheese and olives--neither of which appeared on the salad. Though we did get banana peppers and what appeared to be ranch dressing. I wonder if we just got the wrong salad? The delivery driver did not get out of his car. He had me walk over to his car, out in the parking lot, and talk to him through the window. Again, overall, just not impressed. Were I absolutely bored with every other food option in Ann Arbor, I'd be curious to go in to the actual Ahmo's and get a gyro. But there's so much else to explore here.

Bob was great!!! As were the gyros with extra cucumber sauce and the Greek salad with beets, tomatoes, feta, onion, olives, green peppers and cucumbers!!

There are an abundance of good mediterranean restaurants in Ann Arbor but the Ahmos on S Division might be my favorite. They are always friendly but the reason for my 5 stars is the Ahmos Gyro...I don't know why but it is my favorite. If you're looking for a classy joint, this isn't it, but for a casual lunch, I can always eat here.

I love the smoothies at all Ahmo's. They are just the right amount of sweet although still probably diabetes-inducing. Irresistible. The food is okay. Got a couple of combos with an Ann Arbor clipper coupon, which didn't end up saving all that much money. My gyro was a little dry. The dude at the counter is super snarky at night. Came in at like 10:01 pm (they close at 10pm), and he waited until I went up to talk to him to tell me they were closed.

I've driven or walked by this place for over a decade, and never went in. It's not a very good location for a downtown spot, but it's been there ever since. I tried 2 gyros, and the lamb/beef meat was cooked to perfection, not to mention that the gyros had generous portions of meat too. Very flavorful and the meat was actually crisp on the surface. I don't think I've ever had gyro meat cooked so well. They're other main food here is pizza, which I've yet to try, which is the only reason I'm only giving them 4 stars for the time being. Will definitely not be ignoring this place again.

I love chicken shawarmas and am always excited for the opportunity to find my next favorite. Unfortunately, that title will not be going to Ahmo's. I'm not sure what was so weird about it but it left a VERY strong taste in my mouth. I think perhaps there's too much onion, parsley and garlic. Whatever it is, the flavors didn't meld like they should. I think the chicken pieces could have been cut smaller as well. I also tried the onion rings and those were a fail - no real taste whatsoever. The chili is pretty good though. All in all - eh.

I'm writing on behalf of my family. They all love it very much. Me on the other hand was really disappointed with the gyro. Taziki sauce was watered down and meat tasted too meaty like it had an unappealing smell

I have heard good and bad things from my friends while growing up here, but I have never had any issue with their gyro. I think it is really good and the combo deal is not too bad. Haven't had anything else but you can't go wrong with their gyro

Went here yesterday and left pretty disappointed. Ordered the feisty gyro and the margherita pizza. The gyro was fine, but small for the price. The pizza is where we had the problem. The pizza was a cheese pizza with some cherry tomatoes on it. There was absolutely nothing different about it. Just very underwhelmed.

I know absolutely nothing about the place's authenticity, but the Feisty Gyro at Ahmo's is, in my opinion, the tastiest better-than-fast food in all of Ann Arbor. Somehow this sandwich style hasn't caught on at any gyro shop in the other places I've looked (multiple places each in Ann Arbor and Milwaukee, to be specific). Originally posted this review for the wrong location, sorry! The Huron St. branch is my favorite, the guys who work there are very very nice :)

I get food from this place a lot. It's pretty good. People always talk about the gyros at this place, but I also really like the burgers as well - it's nice to have an alternative to McDonald's and Burger King. But, their chicken gyros are their staple, if you go there and get those you can't go wrong. Of note, all the food there is halal except for the chicken tenders which are kosher.

Wow, talk about terrible service! Today I ordered Ahmo's to be delivered to me at work. The delivery driver called before he got here and asked me to meet him on the street, instead of the usual coming into where I am. When I did meet him, he didn't have my credit card slip to sign, and insisted that I pay in cash, even though I gave the credit card number over the phone. He put me on speaker phone, still refusing to come into the business, and had me talk to someone at Ahmo's to put my credit card through. Embarrassing, standing on the sidewalk, giving my credit card number again! I called back later, to explain the situation and describe the bad service. The manager was not accommodating, instead telling me that he would "speak to the driver" Twenty minutes later, the driver called me back to basically yell at me and demand to know why I hadn't left a tip and why I had called his manager. I think I won't be ordering Ahmo's again, which is a shame because their food is really good :-(

I have been driving past this place for many years and never stopped in. Well, my hunger pangs hit me at JUST the right moment as I was driving by so I finally decided to give this place a shot. I walked in, told them I needed to eat their most delicious food item and the guy said, "get the Ahmo's Gyro". So, I did. They put lamb, beef, and chicken into this thing. Next time, I'm going to ask if they can use all lamb because it was easily the most tender and flavorful meat. Oh yum. He was right. This is a damn good gyro. The chicken and beef weren't bad, but not as tender or flavorful. The standout part about the gyro was that it wasn't doused with garlic sauce. Most other places that make gyros drench the pita in garlic sauce, almost making the entire sandwich taste like a mayo/garlic sandwich. Ahmo's didn't need to pull that trick given the fact that their ingredients stand on their own without the overpowering of garlic. Another side point: All along one of the side walls is a fridge filled with various beverages. I almost felt like I was walking into a convenience store. That surprised me, but then I saw that they had Diet Coke Lime in a 20 oz bottle. Oh snap! I've walked into a dozen convenience stores in Ann Arbor and no Diet Coke Lime for moi. So, I'm going to stop in to Ahmo's...for both the gyro and my Diet Coke Lime.

More like a 8.5/10. Very nice! The best gyro in Ann Arbor for sure!

There's almost nothing bad about Ahmo's! From their little smart car delivery vehicle (appealing to my love of all things miniature) to the ridiculously nice people who work there, Ahmo's is awesome. It was our go-to place as we stumbled back home from football games this year, and the portions are pretty big. The falafel sandwich and the greek salad are great, as is the giant wall of beverages. The only downside to this place is that they close pretty early, around 10pm. If they stayed open later, I would definitely hit them up for late night food. I also have to say, the people who work here are SO great. I wandered in once for ice cream, and the counter guy refused to let me pay for it because they didn't have the toppings I wanted. So overall, great service and great food!

A decent take-out place when you're not looking for anything superb, but just something to fill you up, which is what their gyros do for me.

I went to pick up a couple to-go orders for friends and when I got back I found out they'd charged me for (and sent with me) food that none of us had ordered. When I asked for my money back, they suggested they give me a store credit instead. I insisted that I wanted my money back and they refused to send a delivery driver to get the food/bring my cash. I had to travel all the way back to the store (with the extra/unwanted food) and that was my last experience with Ahmo's. No friendly apology when i got there either. I know they're cheap, but you can spend your dollars elsewhere and get the same caliber of food. I just started my yelp account or else I would've posted this long ago.

I think I stole my friend's gyro. And it was awesome. The best gyro I've had , not too much meat, fat, and sauce and with more veggies. The smoothies were too sweet with syrup, but they have this awesome tea dispenser so you can choose 4 different types of teas. They get 5 stars just for the tea.

Formerly Big Market. Now has two locations (the other being down at Stone School & Ellsworth). Ambience isn't great at the Stone School location, but it's great for carryout. Baklava is excellent!

look i know my shawerma/gyro sandwiches. and i know falafel. and i know pretty much all of that. cuz well, that's my ppl, and i am pretty damn fat, mind AND body. so i would have to say i would recommend some other places in the area for this kind of food, ie, middle eastern/levantine "fast food." i know other ppl that loved this place, so u should definitely try it and see for yourself because it's not like the food tastes bad or nething awful like that, it's definitely palatable and satisfying. but imo the other places serving similar food in AA and ypsi made it all in a more delicious fashion, and i preferred them over ahmo's. i think some of that has to do with my specific tastes stemming from my own background, so i opine recognizing that my tastes differ from others who have reasonable levels of refinement of palate. service wise the guys here were all quite nice though, so some part of me hates to hate, but u gotta hate sometimes, and i'm trying to hate fairly here ppl. compare this to the other local levantine establishments and find your own favorite(s) would be my rec.
